What can be harder than finding the perfect man? Knowing that your love is super illegal when you do…Nolan Warren has always been a list guy, so of course his plans for the coming weekend had one. Maybe the most insane list of his life:Travel to a secret dragon safehouse with his parents. Check.Cross an international border illegally. Check.Attend his little brother’s equally illegal wedding to a dragon-shifter. Check.Ignore said brother’s gorgeous dragon liaison, Airon’s, flirtation…Hmm…that last one might be a little tricky. While Nolan certainly doesn’t have a problem with the thought of dating a dragon-shifter, the unfortunate reality is that a huge chunk of human society does, including the government. Forsaking the life in Dallas that he has built like his brother was forced to do with his dragon-shifter mate isn’t something Nolan is prepared to do. Nor would he ever ask Airon to do the same for him. Yet, there’s no denying the fierce attraction and affection they feel for one another, especially when Airon believes Nolan is the fated mate he has been waiting for. Will societal fears about dragons prove stronger than fate, or will Nolan and Airon get their happily ever after? This is a complete m/m paranormal romance story with a HEA.It contains several scorching-hot scenes and mature language.

Book My Relentless Dragon: A M/M Dragon Shifter Romance (Draknos Mates Book 2) Review :

When we arranged for several parts of the Draknos world to interpenetrate the Earth, expecting the bellicose Terrans to react as to an invasion by shape-changing reptiles, we trusted the fear of dragons their folklore has bred in them to inflame their dread. We soon learned, though, that when the Draknos’ force field resisted their explosives, the two races began to seek a peaceful co-existence—an effort aided by our enemies’ enlisting the aid of a Texan lawyer. Hoping to frustrate these negotiations, I have published (under the pseudonym C. G. Rayne) a series of gay novels, Draknos Mates. My plan is to corrupt the Terrans’ language so as to erode their expectation of clarity and precision, making them trust their own intuition in interpreting printed words, so that we may deceive them more easily as we gain control of their legal system. Here, then, is some advice for others who may wish to join me in this campaign.First, you should mask your intent to debase the language. So make a show of trying to “do right,” but always fail. Avoid using the preposition “like” in any of its many legitimate uses, but do use it as a conjunction. A try little hypercorrectness too: “He didn’t feel any differently.”Remember, though, that some rules are popularly perceived as schoolish and may safely be broken without destroying your cover. Never, for example, begin a sentence with “Just because” unless the verb is “doesn’t/didn’t mean.”Obfuscation is your goal, so strive to make modifiers refer to some person or thing outside of the sentence; that will keep your readers off balance, and the more obscure the cause, the better: “Now, looking at him as he truly was, Airon looked otherworldly.” Probably your best tool for baffling readers without their perceiving the source of their vague disorientation is sentence structure. As often as possible begin one pattern but then conclude with a different one: “kissing a guy in the heat of the moment whom he wasn’t a hundred percent sure where the other’s preferences lay”; “Guilt was an ugly cancer that Julian would be damned before he let it fester within his mate.”Mixing alternate ways of saying things can extend also to idioms. If two idioms sound similar but have different meanings, use one for the other: “As far as proposals go” for “as proposals go,” “as well as” for “and” (“between King Dagon as well as the head of the ruling stonedrake house”). In fact, any way of scrambling an idiom will serve our purpose. “As . . . as” is easy to muddy up with “like”: “people as kind and supportive of our plight like my Nolan and his family.” Replace “similar to” with “similar as” Likewise with “equal”—and, if you also remember that Terrans are unaware that an adjective can follow a noun, you can craft a horror like “hold equal power as her” (=hold power equal to hers).Or, for variety, when two alternatives present themselves, don’t choose between them but use them both or even fuse them:“I wasn’t about to give him a second chance to hurt you again.”“After only less than a month of dating”“something big must be stirring in the wind”“We still have yet to manage to hack into your country’s satellite systems.”One other advantage of piling up the synonymous idioms is that it creates flab. Always use lots of words; spreading meaning over a large area makes it look impressive while turning clarity into fog:“that one is one for the record books in terms of epic-ness.”“It’s always the quiet and stern ones that always turn out to be the wildest ones.”One of my own favorite ploys is to deform an idiom just enough to escape detection, for like a wrench or a shoe flung into the guts of a machine, it will still sabotage full comprehension: “deep-seeded worries,” “a happy median,” “now is as good of time as any.” Use avert for escape, conniving for cunning, underlining for underlying, populous for populace, raised for rose, want as a noun meaning desire, less for fewer, dominate for dominant, and the hilarious step foot for set foot. My personal favorite is “He had to reign in a triumphant smile,” a truly ambiguous line! Yet since Terrans rarely know how to spell, this example may have had little effect beyond encouraging their innate inexactness. I have therefore experimented with she for he and breath for breathe, just to see whether the editor would catch the errors; and I got away with them both!I initially wrote with a dragon persona, thinking to introduce still more outrageous grammatical offenses, supposedly the results of my imperfect mastery of the English tongue. Yet once I saw that these linguistic crimes were not even recognized by my editor, I abandoned the subterfuge. I left in the errors, though, being rather proud of some of them, like heat coming off a body “in droves.”And don’t forget those clichés: “on a daily basis,” “any time soon,” and “sooner rather than later.” Lay ’em on thick! (But “awesome” is no longer chic.)P.S. from Copeland: You'll notice, though, that I did read the first two books in the series. I'll read the third, too, when I think I'm strong enough.
I quite enjoyed this dragon shifter romance. There was much more to the plot than a romance and the couple involved. The story was more heavily filled with information about the dragons, their existence becoming known by humans, and the issues of how humans are handling the knowledge of not being the apex predator on land anymore. This story starts where book 1 ends, the wedding between Julian (Nolan's brother) and his dragon mate. Nolan and his parents spend a lot of time with Airon as their guide to the dragon stronghold and wedding site, so they get to know him. This starts the relationship between the two men. Pretty well written, with humor, steam, a little bit of violence, legal jargon, and dragon politics with humans.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
