Twisting thriller. Intricately woven plot that compels the reader to continue. Believable characters with distinct personalities. That being said I found serious inconsistencies in this book. First, Santa Lucia is is more closely located Central California, not Wine Country. How do I know? I live in west Sonoma County. None of her descriptions match Sonoma County or Napa County. She repeatedly refers to Santa Rosa, yet according to Paterno, the coat is two hours away. Even at it's most eastern point Sonoma County is less than an hour from the Pacific (Bodega). Napa County is only slightly more if you go through Sonoma County. If you go through the East Bay, it's less. I love her attention to detail, but in this case she missed the mark and I can't help but have it distract from my enjoyment of the book. Additionally, having been through the Tubbs fire, September is too early for immense wild fires. The rainy season here doesn't start until October, so a drought wouldn't be an issue unless there had been no rain the previous season.
