Ebook About
Secret Service Agent Cameron Roberts made a promise to Blair Powell, the President's daughter--not to place her own life in danger protecting Blair--but a request from the Commander in Chief forces her to break her word. In this sequel to Above All, Honor, Cameron places duty before love and accepts reassignment as the chief of Blair's security detail, despite knowing that this decision may destroy their tenuous new relationship. As the rift between them widens, more than one woman is happy to offer Blair the company that Cam cannot. Amidst political intrigue, an escalating threat to Blair's safety, and the seemingly irreconcilable personal differences that force them ever further apart, these two unusual women struggle to find their way back

Book Honor Bound (Honor Series Book 2) Review :

This is Radclyffe's second book in the Honor Series. It continues six weeks after the first book ends with a heightened drama starring our tall, handsome Secret Service Agent Cameron Roberts, one stalker, and the beautiful daughter of the president she is sworn to protect.(Beware, a few spoilers ahead)I still love these characters and will continue the series, but this book got off to a pretty slow start (for about 100 pages, in my opinion!) and lacked the chemistry and sensuality of book one. This couple is really sweet when they are together, but I have a few gripes about this installment.Book two is about 70 pages longer than book one. Radclyffe opens about that long filling in the reader on the main dramas of book one (I understand this need, but it's repetitive) and adjusting Cameron into her reassignment of looking after Blair once again. For this time their relationship is mostly sustained on flashbacks from book one as Radclyffe builds the action for the stalker storyline. Overall, the effect is a slow one. The stalker drama just isn't that interesting. Worse, it's domineering. I started to feel like I was trapped in a small, boring room with these secret service people. The romance was kinda neglected... but more so, the emotional close ups and characterization that made book one so palpable was almost nonexistent here.Blair is too in love with Cam to continue her promiscuous patterns from book one and she seems to have transitioned and matured somewhat from wildchild to a woman waiting in the wings for a lover who is unable to touch her. I think this focus could have made the book stronger as far as the love story goes... but Radclyffe didn't really take the time to sensually and emotionally illuminate this longing. Their first meeting after six weeks was just... forgettable. Blair behaves like an excited lap dog trying to hump Cam's leg... and okay, I didn't bring this up in my book one review because my sarcasm was seduced into silence by this sexy pair... but how much leg humping and thigh sex can one take??Seriously. Enough thigh sex!! Radclyffe, please get your characters to bend each other over once in a while... pull out a strap on... anything, anything but the same 'ol same 'ol. Holy cow. If these two weren't constantly separated and constantly facing stalkers, bullets, and bombs, etc... they'd be heading for lesbian bed death by book three!!And speaking of stalkers, bullets, and bombs... I am taking some issue with the abuse our Ken/Cam-Barbie-Butch is taking. Radclyffe normally spoils us with the movie star perfection of her butches... but Cam's body is getting so mauled that I'm cringing at the Frankenstein effect... and, darn it, I'm really starting to think she's *not* very good at her job! Her leg is scarred up by a bullet, so is her chest-- her chest has been cut open and tubes galore put holes in her throat and chest... part of her body is burned and bubbly with blisters, the gashes, the blood... and at least one concussion that is making her dizzy, dumb, and delusional (right into book three I might add!). omg, lol... and it's only book two!! I think this was all supposed to create suspense and increase Blair's resistance to Cam's choice not to resign, but it struck me as funny. It's just too much. Okay. Maybe I'm not buying all the action here... I'm just looking for romance. Maybe Rad doesn't balance the two very well here.I still love these characters. But I think I love Blair more. Every time I see a "her" pronoun for Cam, I'm slightly startled... I think I've been involuntarily registering her as a man. Not much of her femaleness is emphasized. This is not a negative observation, I'm just sayin'... I prefer Blair's womanly presence... and thank god her body has remained in tact and beautiful (so far).Besides having a couple I love... well, be assured that they can't stay apart for long. This series would be silly if they could never touch. The best parts of this book are when these two are in the same room.Hold on... book 3 is much better, in my opinion...
An excellent continuation of the story started in "Above All, Honor," the author does what she can in the beginning to contrive a situation where the relationship between Cam and Blair takes a bit of a step back into the area of conflict as Cam is reassigned as Blair's security chief. I think that Radclyffe does an excellent job at further developing the characters and their motivations, so that even while you may be a bit frustrated with actions and reactions they take, further keeping them apart, you understand them. This sequel really goes a long way towards deepening their relationship, with is something that is interesting to read, versus the typical "will they ever get together?" romance. While I really enjoy this series, the writing is still clearly early Radclyffe: above average, but not up to her present standard. I noticed it, but it wasn't detrimental. And it's the characters that really carry the book, a strength of this author's. It's entertaining to read as Blair and Cam dance around their feelings for one another, while being irresistably affected physically by each other. There are real reasons for their denial, and their fighting against the inevitable helps make it seem more precious and realistic at the end.I like the bits with Cameron and the loyalty and competence of her Secret Service team. I like the joy Blair takes in her art. It's fun to read about people who don't know where they're going, but it's nice to have books like this too, where the main characters have a clear and defined purpose in their lives, and then risk that security in order to be with one another. There's angst, hurt-comfort, mortal danger and pure romance, and the whole situation with Blair and her Stalker is brought to a satisfying conclusion, while the groundwork is clearly laid for some sort of ongoing plot that will likely be expanded upon in the next book.
